When the upper neck is the reason nothing else worked.

These are the presentations people describe when they come to us after the tests came back normal. For each one, this page says what people report, why it is often missed, and what we measure.

What this page is, and what it is not

This page is about normal tests and real symptoms. You may have searched "why am i sick but all my tests are normal," or "upper cervical chiropractor for pots," or "chiropractor for dizziness near me." The words below are the words people use when they describe it: public posts, reviews, and the searches they type when no one can explain what is wrong.

It is not a promise about any condition, and it will not tell you what you have. Nothing here is a diagnosis. For each heading it says what people report, why it is so often missed, and what we measure. The scans are described in plain words on the technology page, and the five steps of The Lazar Method are on the approach page.

  • What people say. Their own words, in italics, on the left of the line.
  • Why it is often missed. In plain words, without blaming anyone.
  • What we measure. The scan, the posture reading, or the image, and what it shows.

If the scans don't show something we can help, we'll tell you, and we won't take you as a patient.

What we do works really well in certain situations, not all. That's why we measure first. Your scans are decision support, not a diagnosis. Dr. Jonathan Lazar, D.C. personally interprets every scan and every image.

after a head injury

Post-concussion symptoms

"post concussion syndrome years later"

"All of my tests always came back perfectly clear, 'no issues,' but there were still issues."

"My body is clearly screaming at me something is up but I don't know what."

Why it is often missed. Most tests look for disease or damage. When they find none, the answer is "normal," and how your nervous system is regulating your body is never asked about.

What we measure. Heart rate variability shows how much reserve your nervous system has and whether it is stuck in fight or flight, and digital X-ray shows the alignment of the upper neck itself.

a long list of specialists

Migraine and headache

"I can't just sit here doing nothing for this headache that doctors cannot figure out."

"Everything came back normal and we were told he had childhood migraines."

"I'm at the point that it's so hard to believe anything like this would help."

Why it is often missed. Each specialist looks at the headache from their own side. No one has measured how your nervous system is regulating your body, or how the top of your neck fits into it.

What we measure. Muscle tone shows how much energy your posture is costing you, and where. PostureIQ™ measures your posture, and digital X-ray shows the alignment of the upper neck.

on a boat, off balance

Vertigo and dizziness

"All my tests are normal, so why am I still dizzy?"

"I feel like I am on a boat, worse in supermarkets, better when I lie down"

"why do i feel off balance but not dizzy"

Why it is often missed. People describe it in many ways, and when the tests are clean the answer is often "it's anxiety." Balance is one of the things the brainstem helps regulate, and that regulation is rarely measured.

What we measure. Thermal scans show how your body is regulating temperature along the spine, level by level, and digital X-ray shows the alignment of the upper neck itself.

heart tests came back normal

Dysautonomia (including POTS)

"I know that something isn't right, but my tilt table results came back normal."

"I'm starting to feel like maybe I'm crazy because they can't find anything wrong with me"

"I Feel Like I'm Shaking Inside, but No One Can See It"

Why it is often missed. Heart and blood tests can come back normal, and then the label becomes anxiety. The part of the nervous system that regulates heart rate and blood flow is seldom what was measured.

What we measure. Heart rate variability shows how much reserve your nervous system has and whether it is stuck in fight or flight, and thermal scans read the part of your nervous system that runs the organs.

blood work came back normal

Fatigue and brain fog

"Waking up tired no matter how much you sleep"

"I feel awful all the time. Physically, mentally."

"They just keep saying it's anxiety because the blood tests aren't identifying anything."

Why it is often missed. Blood work looks for disease. When it finds none, tiredness and brain fog are often put down to anxiety, and how hard your nervous system is working is never checked.

What we measure. Muscle tone shows how much energy your posture is costing you, and heart rate variability shows how much reserve your nervous system has.

told to learn to live with it

Chronic neck pain

"I suffered over a year with dizziness and anxiety, balance and neck pain."

"they basically just said I needed to learn to live with it"

"I thought I was going to be dealing with this pain for the rest of my life."

Why it is often missed. Pain in the neck is usually looked at in the neck. How the upper neck connects to the brainstem and the rest of your nervous system is a different question, and it is seldom measured.

What we measure. PostureIQ™ measures your posture, muscle tone shows where it costs you energy, and digital X-ray shows the alignment of the upper neck.

after an injury

Whiplash injury

"It started after…"

"No one believes me, I'm starting not to believe me"

"I'm just so sick of no one being able to help me."

Why it is often missed. After an injury the images can look unremarkable while the symptoms carry on. The upper neck, which carries the head and surrounds the brainstem, is usually not where anyone looked.

What we measure. Digital X-ray shows the alignment of the upper neck itself, PostureIQ™ measures your posture, and three scans show how your nervous system is regulating your body.

not on the list

What to do if your symptom isn't listed

Seven headings cannot hold every way a person can feel unwell. Many people arrive with a mix: head pressure and brain fog, a gut that won't settle, waking up tired no matter how much you sleep. That many symptoms across that many systems isn't random, and it isn't in your head.

Start with the free 4-minute screening. It looks at your symptoms together, not one at a time, and your answers stay private. A member of our team will reach out within one business day. If you would rather talk first, book a 15-minute Clarity Call, a phone call with our team and no commitment, to find out whether what we do is even a fit.

If a sore or injured neck makes you wary: the correction is gentle and specific, planned from your own imaging. No cracking, no twisting.
